MDM forms strategic alliance with Perth-based GR Engineering

29 November 2010

MDM Engineering Group Limited (“MDM”) is pleased to announce it has formed a strategic alliance with Perth-based GR Engineering Services PTY Ltd (“GRES”). The two companies will cooperate primarily to target the estimated 150 plus Australian mining companies controlling some 400 projects in Africa.

The strategic alliance will enable MDM wider access to the large number of Perth/Australian based mining companies with projects in Africa, whilst this alliance will give GRES the benefit of MDM’s well established execution capability in Africa. The MDM team has built some 50 metallurgical process plants throughout Africa.

Both company teams have a proven track record of successful project delivery of over 22 years in a broad range of minerals.

MDM is a minerals process engineering and project management company providing a wide range of services from preliminary and final feasibility studies, through to detailed engineering design, procurement, construction and commissioning.

GRES is an engineering consulting and contracting organisation which provides high quality process design and construction services to the resource and mineral processing industry. Services range from preliminary feasibility studies through to delivery of lump sum turnkey design and construction projects. With over 150 professional and support personnel, GRES performs all design in-house and with its own directly employed personnel, it also performs site structural, mechanical, piping and electrical construction and installation works.

The culture, staff complement and experience within both companies are very similar. Various synergies such as a focus on enhanced safety, cost efficiencies and designing quality plants, make MDM and GRES well-suited to work on a wide range of projects.

With more than 270 professional and support personnel and combined financial resources, the MDM/GRES Alliance is poised to provide ‘world best’ engineering design, consultancy and construction service to the mining industry anywhere in the world and particularly to the increasing number of Australian mining houses seeking to unlock Africa’s enormous mineral wealth.

Martin Smith, MDM CEO said:
“We anticipate that this exciting business development initiative, will lead to improved order books for both companies. MDM look forward to working closely with GRES, which has established itself as a highly reputable engineering contractor.”
