MDM Engineering achieves safety milestone at Ezulwini

Johannesburg, 28 February 2008: MDM Engineering Limited announced today that the company has achieved 500,000 Lost Time Incident Free (LTIF) man hours at its Ezulwini project site. MDM Engineering is busy with the construction of both the gold and uranium metallurgical plants, and associated infrastructure, at First Uraniumís Ezulwini underground mining project. Ezulwini is being developed by First Uranium, the TSX and JSE-listed uranium company in which Simmer and Jack has a 62.4% stake.

The 500,000 LTIF hours have been completed over a period of nine months, beginning May 2007, with a staff complement of 611 people on site. Construction of the uranium and gold processing facilities is on track, with commissioning of the gold plant expected to begin in April 2008.The plants will operate at a throughput capacity of 1.97 million tonnes per annum and the Ezulwini project is located some 40km from Johannesburg, in the western portion of the Witwatersrand Basin.

MDM Engineering CEO, Grant Lowman, said that MDM Engineering continued to emphasise the importance of safety at its project sites. “The Ezulwini project is proceeding well and is on track for our client. Safety is critical, we approach our employee work environment very seriously and it is a credit to Jagger de Jager, the MDM Engineering Safety Officer for the Ezulwini site, his staff and the clientís project management team, that this landmark has been accomplished.”

MDM Engineering is involved in various projects totalling some US$400 million and the company is considering a listing on an international exchange later in the year.
