MDM Engineering appoints Bill Nairn as Non-executive chairperson

Project management group MDM Engineering has appointed Bill Nairn as a Non-executive chairperson with effect from January 1.

Nairn holds a BSc in mining engineering and has more than 40 years experience in the mining industry.

“We are delighted that Bill Nairn has agreed to take on the role of nonexecutive chairperson of MDM Engineering,” said CEO George Bennett.

“Bill’s name is almost synonymous with the global mining industry and we will undoubtedly benefit from Bill’s extensive knowledge and experience,” he commented.

Prior to his retirement from Anglo American at the end of 2004, Nairn was the group’s technical director for a period of five years. Before that, he was the MD and CE of JCI Limited from 1994 to 1997.

MDM said that Nairn had served extensively on the boards of other mining companies, such as Anglo Platinum, Boart Longyear, AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo Zimbabwe, Avmin and Kumba and, has experience of guiding various boards' safety and sustainable development committees.

Nairn will remain a nonexecutive director of AngloGold Ashanti and Pangea DiamondFields.
