Bill has more than 40 years ‘experience in the mining industry. As a director of Anglo American plc, he was the Group’s Technical Director for four years. Before joining Anglo American he was CEO of JCI Limited, prior to which, he had been intimately involved in the management of JCI’s Gold and Platinum mining operations for over twenty years. Bill has served on the boards of other mining companies including Anglo Platinum Limited, Avmin Limited and Kumba Resources Limited; he is currently a Non-Executive Director of AngloGold Ashanti and Chairman of Pangea Diamond Fields plc. He was appointed Non-Executive Chairman in April 2008.
Martin was appointed Chief Executive Officer of MDM in March 2010. he began his career with Sasol Limited as a bursary holder. After 14 years, he moved to Grinaker-LTA Construction, the South African based mining and engineering group. His last position was that of Managing Director, Sub-Saharan Region for Bateman Engineering Limited. Martin graduated with a B.Eng. from the University of Pretoria in 1987.
George has almost 20 years’ experience in the investment banking industry, originally as a partner of Fergusson Bros, then Simpson McKie before its acquisition by HSBC. Previously the Head of Mining Research Sales and Director of HSBC (South Africa), George is also a Member of the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. He became CEO of Shanta Gold in September 2004, which he successfully listed on the London Stock Exchange (AIM) in July 2005. He resigned from this board when he formed MDM with Mike Nunn.
Dominique was appointed Finance Director of MDM in October 2008. A Chartered Accountant, Dominique completed his articles at Price Waterhouse and began his career at Anglogold. Dominique has also worked at various financial levels of local and international listed companies within the mining, manufacturing and banking sectors with his last position being Chief Financial Officer of a diamond mining company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange and Toronto Stock Exchange.
A Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Management Accountant, Mark completed his articles at Coopers & Lybrand before joining Anglo American’ Corporate and International Finance Department. From 1999 to 2000, he was the Director of Mining Corporate Finance at HSBC, with corporate clients including Afgem Ltd, De Beers, Kroondal Platinum and the Industrial Development Corporation of South Africa. Mark restructured Afgem Ltd’s interest into Tanzanite One Ltd, and advised on its subsequent listing on AIM. As a founding investor in Xceldiam Ltd, he was closely involved in the incorporation, development and listing of the company on AIM and subsequent sale of the business.
Dave has over 35 years’ experience in extractive metallurgy including 30 years of process plant design and commissioning and feasibility study management. He has been with MDM since its inception in 1989.
